Poetry Writing

It’s often said that in poetry, form and content are one. In this edition of HetMoet Geschreven, poet Michiel J. Ris will delve into the forms of these two, telling you everything you need to know about rhythm, rhyme, and modern metre and, more importantly, how to put theory into practice.

Whether you take a Shakespearean sonnet or Dua Lipa’s most recent single, formal poetry is everywhere. In this workshop, you’ll learn how both classical literature and contemporary pop can serve as models to help you sculpt your own verse. By the end, you will have all the tools you need in order to make your poetry sound the way you think it should. No prior experience in writing or analysing formal poetry is required. All you need to bring is some writing material, we will provide the rest.
